Profile

Karma Yonten has been working with the Office of Performance Management under His Majesty’s Secretariat from 2015. Prior to that, he served as the founding CEO of Druk Holding and Investment (DHI) from 2007-2014. DHI is the holding company for all the commercially oriented State Owned Enterprises, and it also makes investments on behalf of the Government.

He served his initial years as a civil servant in the Department of Power and with the Basochu hydropower project. He also served as CEO of Bhutan Electricity Authority, the regulator for the electricity sector and for a short while worked as a Consultant in the private sector. He is currently on the Boards of The Royal Academy, The Royal Institute of Law, Bhutan Agro Industries Limited and Dagachu Hydropower Project Corporation. In the past he served on the Boards of DHI, Druk Green Power Corporation, Bhutan Telecom, Bhutan National Bank, DHI Infra, Koufuku International and Thimphu TechPark.

Karma graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas through a Fulbright Scholarship, and he got his MBA from Hitotsubashi University in Japan through a Monbusho Scholarship.
